Change not for the sake of Change but for Survival

I am so sick of debating...CHANGE! It's like we have to prove over and over the fact that the world has moved on and we haven't I hate the fact that the "church" has been stuck in a model that since the 1950's has not worked in the same with the same results since then. It's like the church refused to grow up. Now we spend the majority of out time not reaching people for Christ but fighting about the face the Hymns or Modern Songs or the way that church should worship. No other indistry or company is this bull headed. Probably because if they don't adapt they die. I've been hearing about all of the churches that close their door each year, maybe that's a good thing. If you don't reach people, if you don't adapt and change to reach a new generation, a new culture God is removing his hand from you. In Revelation2:4-5

"4
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent."

This is what is happening all over the world. Churches who have refused to keep their eyes on Christ are being removed. Part of us being obediant to Christ is reaching people and yet we are refusing to do that. We want to come and sit around 1 day a week and listen to a Preacher give a 30 minute book report about something that we aren't going to actually do anyway. Then whe our church isn't as packed as it was 15 years ago, it must be the Preachers fault. "Not, mine" CRAP!!!!! No wonder my generation has not come back to the church. I bearly want to be here and I'm on a church staff.

Where does this end? When we lock the doors? When the Senior Generations all die off and there is no one to fight with? Maybe the church needs a little, no a lot of persicution. Maybe we need to lose our "non-profit" status in this country. Maybe then we will stop taking for granted what we have in this country when we have the ability to worship openly. I don't think we would care what songs we sing to Chirst if our lives where on the line if we got caught.

If we don't catchup with society in marketing, technology and trends we will never be viewed as relevent to the current Generation and ultamatly we the church, as we know it will DIE!

If you hate change, your going to hate being irrelivant even more!!! That the POOP!

Two thoughts:

1) We could become like Europe where Christianity used to be vibrant and strong, but is nearly extinct today........OR

2) We could become like South Korea and China where God is moving immeasurably in spite of their lack of multi-media....

God's Spirit wants to move in the hearts of those who seek Him. There are even churches in the US where the use of multi-media is not the reason for the growth..........

Then, there's the word 'growth.' Does this always mean numbers?

Thanks!

I don't think the answer is in marketing if your looking to increase church attendance from sinners. Now if you want to draw from the other churches then go for it. The real answer is to go to the sinners with the "power" to witness.
